It has been documented for several years that the Town is in need of a new facility to safely and efficiently support the Highway, Tree and Grounds Department operations.  The current facilities were built in the 1940’s and 1950’s and have significant physical problems, including structural issues, code compliance issues, and multiple required repairs.

In addition, the current facilities are undersized and inefficient which impacts the level of service the Highway, Tree and Grounds Departments are able to provide to the community.  The Highway, Tree and Grounds Department responsibilities have increased significantly over the years along with the number of vehicles and pieces of equipment, but the facilities have not kept pace.  The vehicle and equipment types and sizes have also changed significantly since the facility was constructed, making the current support spaces too small to efficiently and safely meet the needs of the Highway, Tree and Grounds Departments and the Town.
