Routine pavement management, the most cost effective, occurs regularly over time so as to maintain road safety and traveling conditions. Infrared and cold patch  are routinely performed to compensate for ordinary wear and tear.

Infra-Red Process

Asphalt is restored by means of an infrared heater, which softens existing pavement to a depth of 1 ½ inches. The softened area is treated with a penetrating asphalt emulsion, uniformly scarified and raked to a workable condition. The treated surface is than compacted by use of a steel-wheeled roller to create a smooth driving surface consistent with surrounding pavement. See Photos.

Cold Patch

A dense graded or open graded mix with cutback asphalt as the binder with 1% of the mix being hydrated lime based on the total weight of the aggregate. The mineral aggregates and bituminous material are proportioned and combined to meet specified limits.
